Barcelona Planned Events
-
Spend a day touring this World Heritage City, legend to be founded by Hercules -
The Olympic Stadium on Mont Juic was built in 1927 and renovated to be the main stadium in the 1992 Summer Olympics -
The stadium was recently the home of the RCD Espanyol football club, the Barcelona Dragons American Football team, and in 2010 will host the European Athletics Championships -
The Olympic Harbour was originally created for the Olympic Games in 1992 and is now home to a number of restaurants, bars, and specialty shops-- you'll have to come back here for a night out! -
Restaraunts on the Olympic Port will serve authentic Mediterranean dishes of fish, rice, shellfish, and other delicious meats -
Park Guell was commissioned by Eusebi Güell who wanted to create a stylish park for Barcelona aristocracy -
The park contains amazing stone structures, stunning tiling, and fascinating buildings -
The façade of Casa Mila, an apartment block built in the early 1900s, is an impressive wave-like mass of rough-shipped stone -
Antoni Gaudi, who designed the Casa Mila, also designed the Cassa Battlo -
The local name for Casa Battlo is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), and indeed it does have a visceral, skeletal organic quality to it -
The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, also designed by Antoni Gaudi, has been under construction since 1882 and isn't expected to be finished until 2026 -
Because of the long hours put into this Roman Catholic Church, the sheer detail, magnitude, and beauty of this structure is breath-taking -
It seems that the goal of the designer was to avoid straight lines completely with irregular oval windows, an arched roof like that of a dragon's back, and flowing sculpted stone work throughout -
You'll get familiar with the public transportation in the city like the Barcelona Metro -
Enjoy the beautiful weather of Barcelona! -
You'll spend the rest of the night on the beaches of Barcelona -
You'll love learning about the city you'll be calling home for the summer!
To launch our weekend activities lineup, we are going to explore Barcelona with a tour of the city! We will visit famous Gaudi’s monuments including Sagrada Familia, an impressive work that began in 1882 and continues to this day, one of Gaudi’s unfinished dreams and now the center of Barcelona that will continue until its end sometime in the 21st century. Another impressive marvel you’ll experience is Casa Mila, far from just any house; this incredible house offers some of the best picture opportunities in the city with its open roof balcony and unique touches throughout the house. Describing Casa Battló does not do it justice as it is a must see, there’s nothing like it in the world and you will be amazed at the architecture of this house that resemble a dragon from the inside out. Get ready to take in the Olympic stadium on Mont Juïc and the Olympic Port, both which are Barcelona must sees. We will conclude the tour in Anonio Gaudi’s Parc Güell which is filled with some of the most unique architecture in the world, this is definitely a must see with some amazing photo opportunities you won’t want to miss. This will be your opportunity to take note of all the great places you’ll want to explore throughout the summer. Once we are done touring, we will feast on traditional Spanish paella in the Gothic quarter and spend the evening on the beach. Get ready to fall in love with Barcelona.

The Barcelona Speaker Series occurs once per week after work where industry professionals share their success stories and outline the essential aspects of preparing for life after college. The Speaker Series is a valuable aspect of the Internship Program, as it allows you to gain insight from industry professionals. Additionally, you will spend time building your professional network, as you will have time to talk with each at the end of their speech.
With the support of our partner Menlo College, those that participate in our Speaker Series will be provided with contract academic credit from Menlo College. For additional details please go to our Academic Credit page.

The purpose of the series is to give you a broader perspective, while inspiring you to think about what career you wish to pursue. Below is a snapshot of a few of the guest speakers we have hosted at previous programs.
